Huysen Hill Our Story
This love story begins with a young man falling in love with a farmer’s daughter on the farm Vaalfontein and after 11years of courtship and waiting he married her. This beautiful young lady grew up on her beloved farm, running through the veldt, enjoying the freedom and joy that results from life on a farm. The farm had been in her family for years, but unexpectedly misfortune struck, and they had to auction the farm. The young husband, finding himself in the right circumstances, was able to repurchase the farm and present it to her as a gift.
"An extension of a family’s love and appreciation for each other"
Years passed, and the farm eventually became the property of one of their sons who had a passion for cultivating the land. Applying his resourcefulness and much hard work he created what is known today as Huysen Hill. He also had property nearby in Vleesbaai, a picturesque coastal village, where he began working on a project to single-handedly build a second home for himself. While busy with this enterprise, an unexpected romance began to bloom when he met a city girl, who by good fortune, was holidaying in Vleesbaai. Their meeting and subsequent marriage brought about a mutual collaboration to sustain and expand the farm. But most of all, this union produced a more exceptional harvest, an extraordinary blessing – four beautiful children.
